Job Description:
This is an Information Management Specialist intern position aligned in Information Management Service. The incumbent is participating in a centrally funded and organized developmental program designed to prepare him or her to assume the responsibilities of an Information Management Specialist. The Information Management Specialist intern will perform progressively more with decreasing oversight as knowledge and skills are developed. This work will include a structured training plan with on the job training of health administration/business office programs including, but not limited to, participates in testing and installing systems modifications and upgrades; monitors the availability and functionality of networks and systems, and detects and reports problems; provides information and assistance to customers on using installed systems; and participates on teams responsible for implementing major system changes. He/she identifies and determines the nature and potential sources of problems; and selects the appropriate response to correct. The incumbent evaluates test data; and anticipates customers’ needs for information and assistance.
Interns will participate in a 2-year formal training and development program designed to provide them with important competencies to progress to more responsible positions. During the program, interns can be promoted to a higher grade level when they meet administrative and qualification requirements, but not beyond the established promotion potential of the position. Upon successful completion of the program, interns will be converted to career-conditional or career appointments, as appropriate. Interns who do not perform successfully or progress sufficiently during the program may be separated at any time.

Job Requirement:
Qualification Requirements: Applications must meet the OPM qualification requirements for GS-2210 Information Management Specialist positions.
GS-5 Three years of general experience, one of which was equivalent to at least a GS-5 provided a basic knowledge of
OR
Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree in Information Management Service or a related field.
GS-7 One full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement with a bachelor’s degree.
GS-9 Masters or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level of education leading to such a degree. |
