| Professional Golf Management Program (PGM) - Checklist for Completion of Documentation and Activity
The Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Professional Golf Management
Program (PGM) is designed to prepare students for a career in the
golf industry. The primary goals of EKU's PGM program are to graduate
students and place qualified professionals into the golf market
with skills necessary to achieve advanced acceleration in the golf
industry.
The program coordinates student internships, which provide valuable
hands-on learning experiences, and is a critical step toward achieving
the goals of the program. In order to comply with the EKU and the
PGA of America guidelines, PGM students will be required to complete
three different types of internships (Private, Public, Resort) totaling
16 months of full time work.
- Read through Student Internship Procedure Guide.
- Meet with EKU PGM Internship Coordinator to discuss Internship
site possibilities.
- Internship Coordinator makes first contact to prospective site.
- Submit cover letter and resume to prospective site along with
site profile sheet.
- Return completed site profile sheet to EKU PGM office.
- Send out Coop Agreement form with PGA/PGM Inventory Checklist
for respective level of internship.
- Return Coop Agreement form with signatures to PGM office.
- Begin Internship and complete PGA/PGM work experience task.
- Call PGM office to complete telephone evaluation after 1 month
of Internship.
- Complete mid-internship reporting form and return to PGM office.
- Confirm that the On-Site Supervisor has completed mid-internship
evaluation.
- Confirm that the On-Site Supervisor has received and completed
Final Evaluation of Internship form and returned it to the PGM
office before end of Internship.
- Return to Eastern Kentucky University for post-internship interview
with PGM Internship Coordinator.
- Confirm that all required paperwork has been completed and is
on file with the EKU PGM office.
